BIOGRAPHY OF ROBERTO ROGNONI
Roberto ROGNONI, born in Cittiglio (Varese), lives and works in San Donato Milanese (Milan). He started to photograph in 1965 separating his research work into subjects such as: theatre, travel, landscape, social and documentary reportage and, in recent years, digital photography and video. In 1999, he promoted the creation of the historical photographic archives in San Donato Milanese, of which he has been the trustee since 2000.

In 1987 the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations (FIAF) – Turin granted him the title of Italian Photography Artist (AFI). He is currently freelance contributor to “Tutti Fotografi” (Progresso Editor – Milan) and “Fotoit” (FIAF Editor – Turin) magazines. Rognoni is the official photographer of the "Quelli di Grock" Company in Milan, but has worked with many other companies. Since 2001 to 2006 he was the official photographer of Danae Festival in Milan, organized by Teatro delle Moire. Some of his photos are included in the Archives of the Italian Centre of Author's Photography (FIAF), in the Italian Photographic Archives of Castellanza (Varese), in the National Museum of Photography of Brescia and in the Civic National Photographic Archives of Sesto S. Giovanni (Milan). He always places the production of the image alongside personal commitment to the dissemination of photographic culture. He is a collaborator of Cultural Departement of FIAF and teacher in the Third Age University of San Donato and San Giuliano Milanese.
Publications He co-ordinated and carried out research work on “Images to be Saved” and “Being Elderly Today”, whose photos were published in two books printed in 1982 and 1984 by the S. Donato Milanese Culture Club. In 1994, he published his research “Theatre&Image” in 2004 “Images of images”, and in 2003, the catalogue of the dance-theatre Danae Festival was illustrated with Rognoni’s photos. In 1999 he co-ordinated the text for the book “Digital Photography”, edited by FIAF – Turin. In 2006 he published “Images tell changes in S. Donato”, dedicated to photo’s exhibition of S. Donato Historical Photographic Archives. In 2008 Moire Theatre published the book "Anatomie di un corpo scenico", edited by Electa, that was illustrated with several Rognoni's photos. Moreover, many photos and articles on photographic techniques and language have been published in different magazines and newspapers.
Exibithions The first solo exhibitions date back to seventies, with many organised both in Italy and abroad. The most recent, in Milan, were held in the “Litta” theatre (2003) and in the Giovenzana Multistores “Images on the road” space (2004); in Busto Arsizio (MI) Boragna bookstore Gallery (2004); in San Donato Milanese Contemporary Art Gallery “Cascina Roma” (2004); in Cesano Boscone (MI) “Villa Marazzi” space (2005); in Seravezza Fotografia, ex-Scuderie Medicee (2008); in Sesto S. Giovanni (MI) Civic National Photographic Archives and in Brescia National Museum of Photography (2010). Video-projections were presented in Vezzano Ligure, Cremona and Fiorenzuola in 2006, Cesano Boscone, Tavazzano, Milan in 2007, La Spezia Golfo Foto Festival in 2008, Tavavazzano and Milan in 2009, Brescia in 2010. In 1999 he organised the exhibition “S. Donato Yesterday and Today” and in 2006 “Images tell changes in S. Donato” for the Culture Committee of S. Donato Milanese Local Authority. In 2007 he organised the Francesco Ventura exhibition "Fra la gente", held in San Donato Milanese Contemporary Art Gallery.
Recent Awards In 2010: One of Authors winners of the "Dream Milan - the city through contemporary photography", organized by the Municipality of Milan and Alinari-24 Hours, 24 Hours Group. Author awarded the exhibition “Inside the theatre, outside the scene”, organized by the magazine “Stratagemmi” at the space MIL in Sesto San Giovanni (MI). |
